Huining Tang
Hello! I’m currently pursuing a Master of Urban Planning degree at the University of Southern California, focusing on Transportation, Sustainability, and Climate Change. My academic and professional path has always been guided by a deep dedication to equitable and data-driven urban development. Through my experiences working in both the U.S. and China, I’ve had the opportunity to develop skills in GIS analysis, environmental design, transportation planning, and land use policy. It’s been an enriching journey so far!

During my undergraduate studies in Environmental Design, Policy, and Planning at Stony Brook University, I developed a strong foundation for an interdisciplinary approach to urban challenges, where design aligns with data, and sustainability connects with social impact. From modeling ecological risk zones in the Hudson Valley using ArcGIS Pro to calibrating land cover data for rural spatial planning in Ganzhou, China, I’ve consistently leveraged mapping and spatial tools to support more informed decision-making.

I’ve expanded my technical skills at USC while deepening my understanding of infrastructure equity and climate adaptation. I’m particularly passionate about the intersection of mobility and resilience—exploring how we can design efficient systems that are connected but also equitable and climate-ready. I aspire to contribute meaningfully to planning through impactful public-sector or consulting work. I hope to help create more livable and sustainable communities by bridging research, policy, and design.
Moving forward, I aspire to contribute meaningfully to the planning field through impactful public-sector or consulting work. By bridging research, policy, and design, I hope to help create more livable and sustainable communities.
